Does it have an 'i'? Anyone? We'll just settle with 'y' if you'll have it. :)

I wanted to start giving other bloggers out there some tips to use with their CSS code and other things, to help you out. I know a lot from trial and error and love it when techies share knowledge instead of the perpetual Google search.

Today's subject: getting rid of the Blogger NavBar. ^^^ Up there. You all know what I mean right?

A few reasons for getting rid of it:

a) It makes a blog look much more professional.
b) Blogger DOES allow you to remove it. They do not demand it be kept as an advertisement as your blog address {blogspot} is enough.
c) If you look above, there is a "Next Blog" option and it will give you a random blog to look at. Nine times out of ten it will be a blog with very Adult content. Not mincing words, it's porn. Plain and simple. I don't approve of that at all and don't want my blog leading others towards it.

Here are your directions:
Go into your dashboard.
Click Layout for the blog you'd like to remove the bar from.
Click Edit HTML.
Scroll down almost to the bottom and find the piece of code that reads:

Just before that section, copy and paste this code:

This is a song {one of many} written by my Pastor. He is making a CD as a FREE ministry tool and I have become the mouthpiece, so to speak, for his songs that God has given him. There are many more where this came from, but we finished this today. The mixing, volume, voices etc... still needs to be done, but I couldn't wait to share it with you!

“Knock and the door will be opened to you…”

Sometimes I forget how big God is, and how insignificant I really am. He chose us from the beginning, and continually loves us, yet He lets us choose HIM. A few weeks ago in church, we watched a Louie Giglio video. It started out slow, with my mind wandering and by the end, my eyes were watering. {Which is absolutely not a common occurrence with me.} Watch this clip and then read on into the post.

WOW. WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW???

That was my reaction too. It may be a few days before you close your mouth, I know. :)

I always planned my life in my own little head. I’m sure many of us are guilty of that, but I had an obsession with it. Over the last year, I’ve been pulled from my bubble {O how I love the bubble!} and put into other bubbles, much to my dismay. When God changes our heart, though, we want to only do what he wants us to do. I’ve heard it a ba-dillion jillion times, and it’s more of a reality to me.

Take prayer, for instance. I was never much of a prayer person past meals and times of utter importance {like dying Grandpa’s} and now it’s my source of knowing what to do about anything! Here’s a way God has been answering a prayer I’ve been praying for 4 months. In February, a friend and I had a huge blow up and called our friendship off. We both selfishly said things that tore the other apart…and the day after it happened I wished I could take back everything I’d blasted off. I shouldn’t have talked to anyone that way. Four months went by with me wishing we could reconcile in some way. I finally decided to give him a call and we decided to talk it out yesterday. I wasn’t sure it was the right thing to do, although I knew it needed to be done, and it wouldn’t be easy. {Do Hard Things, right?}

A few months ago I started getting an “Encouraging Word of the Day” email from K-Love …you get a Bible verse sent to your email inbox every morning. Normally I scan it over and think “that was nice”. Yesterday morning, I quickly checked my email and this was the verse of the day:

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. “

--Nuts. Did He have to go and do that? :)

We talked, and see where each other stands. Had free smoothies. And I have a peace about it. Strange as it seems if you knew the whole story, but I have peace. And this morning’s verse was:

One of the things that stuck out the most to me about this particular diptych was the 2/3 placement. Normally I think of diptych in a horizontal manner but Nat thought outside the box and went vertical. Photoshop Tricks! :: Fix-It-Friday

One of my favorite phoTogs, American Mum, has a Fix-It-Friday thing every once in a while. She shows a photo, then shows how she fixed it with Photoshop. Simple as that! So I thought, ‘Hey…I’m always showing people in real life how I use my CS4, why not my internet friends?’ :) So here we go!

I’ll attempt to give you as much info as I can, and where I got the actions I used.

The first thing I did was ‘burn’ the edges. MCP Actions {click Try Me} has some really cool FREE ones…I used MCP Burnt Edges 1-High Res.

^Above, I used the Boutwell Magic Glasses action, also FREE, from Totally Rad Actions.

^Next up, Pioneer Woman. I know many of you drool over her already, and I’m sure you know about her FREE actions as well, right? If you don’t you can get Pioneer Woman Set 1 & Pioneer Woman Set 2. They work really well together…What I used in the photo up there is Slight Lighten from Set 1. I ran this action twice. It all depends on how much you need. Sometimes less is better if you’re going to Boost the color like I will below:

^ Also from Set 1 is my most used action of all, Boost. It just pumps your color and brightens all the details. This photo would be finished then, and I would say it as my ‘color’ copy.

^And the next best thing in PW’s actions set is Seventies. This action just makes cool look, well, cooler. :) It’s in Set 2.

^After I ran Seventies, I bumped up the contrast so the photo doesn’t look glazed over. I go to Layers>Brightness and Contrast…and the I adjust the contrast just a little. I moved the Brightness too.

^I LOVE black and whites. Sometimes too much! The action I ran on this no longer exists to the public, BUT you can use any B/W action {such as PW’s Black and White Beauty} and then here, I brought the Brightness down, and bumped contrast just a little. Here are the finished products!

Where have I been??? More blogging over here on my photo blog.

Boring now that our 08-09 Co-op session is finished.

No more criticism because my legs can’t straddle as far as the {obviously made of rubber} dark haired 6 year old.

No more lectures on being kind and respecting space.

No more “Teacher, I brought you something.”

No more handing out candy.

No more getting hula hoops stuck on the chandelier in the church lobby.

No more spitting on the carpet because the boys forgot they were inside.

Man, I miss Fridays!!! :)

Here we have Kate, Israel, Jess, and McKenzie trying to figure out who they should “red rover on over.”

I know it *looks* like a jail lineup…it’s really just “Red light, Green Light.” I Promise.

Whoops! Looks like Izzy missed his hand. Erin is just itching to tell him. ;)

Israel {in red} is a super fun kid to have in your class. He’s a great team player, and pays attention. Plus, he’s my best jumping-jack participant! Jonathan is on the right…if you need energy in your class he is THE perfect, and very willing, candidate! Keeps me on my toes and is fun & competitive. He recently informed me that I’m taking him out for his birthday in September. We’re going to Jumpy’s and then to Pizza Hut. On my tab. Did I mention he’s only 6?

Jessica {on the left} might be quiet at first, but she definitely opens up after a rough game of anything. She’s a sly one…you don’t know how she’s going to outwit you but she does! Kate is SO SMILEY! Always laughing, hopping, eyes glittering. Last session she had a problem being separated from her younger sister, but this time she was okay with being 6. :)

Foster was new to my class since we’ve split the age groups up form last semester. He jumped right in on whatever we were doing, and was one of my best jumping jack dudes. He and Israel were almost always Jumping Jack Partners and were mirror images of each other. Caitlin is such a sweetie…she and I had a little time before the last class and she gave me several coloring pages she’d done. Her competitive nature helps balance the class out she was my biggest fan of “musical dots.”

Erin {blonde girl on the left} was my right-hand-{wo}man. If there was ever a child so much like me as a child, I had yet to meet her until now. This girl is Queen of sit-ups: she would voluntarily do 35 at the beginning of class. And if someone moved during Red light, Green light…she would be the first to let me know. Girl after my own heart.

Christian {dark hair peeking out on the right side of the picture}was always the first one in the lobby. He let me in on ALL the secrets of Star Wars and who fights who. He also had a GREAT attitude and was a good friend to the boys. He loves the Civil War and he’s only 6? One word. Homeschooled. :D

McKenzie {brown shirt} was a hard one at first. She wouldn’t really say anything, just nodded. By the winter semester she would answer questions, and was an awesome team player! Her jumping jack skills improved tremendously!

Next year, I’ll be working and won’t be able to teach. The kids don’t believe me, as usual. *wink*

I’ll end with a few funny quotes from the kids:

Erin: “How old are you?”

Me: “19”

Erin: “NO you’re NOT.”

Me: “Yes, I really am.”

Erin: “Well…you look like a kid.”

Me: “I’m really an adult, believe it or not.”

Erin: “Are you married?”

Me: “No, not yet, why?”

Erin: “Because. Adults are married. AND if you’re not married, then you must be a kid.”

Me: “I have no idea. Why?”

Christian: “Wellll…it tastes like it.”

Me: “How do you know what it tastes like in the water?”

Christian: “You know what fluoride water tastes like, don’t you? It’s like…{ponders}…it’s like they’re trying to clean your teeth for you. THAT’S what it tastes like.”

Freshly Frozen

This adorable symbol of spring was a gift from my friend, Kellie. She’s SUPER crafty…she’s one of those people that has handwriting made for scrapbooks. :)

All of the above photos were taken this evening. After last night’s storms, the weather has taken a turn for the bitter. With the wind chill, we are in the 20s! BRRRR…… But as the sleet fell and the sun set, it gave off an AMAZING golden glow. I froze my bum off, but I think these shots were worth it.

You’ve probably wondered what has happened that would keep me away from the computer for 3 weeks. Life in general, really. We also had Pride and Prejudice performance to get out of the way {haven’t got to those pictures from last week yet} and Alyssa’s visit here. More to come… what does the Easter weather look like on your side of the fence? Long-johns paired with Easter dresses?

I Bleed Green

Usually the title of this has you thinking I’m referring to tractors. Or maybe it’s only a phrase we use here in the cornfields of the Ohio valley. We’re reworking this phrase today to mean

I’m PROUD TO BE IRISH!!!!I’d like to say ‘thanks’ to Great-Great Grandpa Andrew McWilliam for trying out this new country called America and leaving beloved Ireland behind. I appreciate it, minus the pale skin, blonde eyelashes, and freckles. ;) GOOGLE helped us out today by providing these lovely little images for this lass. And when I Googled ‘green house’ I was thinking I would get a picture of a house that is green. Blonde moment. :D

It’s my 19th Birthday! WOW. I still stand in awe of staying alive 19 whole years…that might sound strange but to think of all the stuff I did as a kid…hmm… :)

We are supposed to be having a live birthday party tonight but I’m sorry to say it will be impossible. This weekend has been one thing after another. Yesterday my dad spent 5 hours in the ER with my mom. A cat scan showed a kidney stone.

MY mom has a KIDNEY STONE? WHAT?

Our mom is the health nut of the universe so it kind of contradicts itself to say that she could have developed one of those.

But I know the reason it happened.

You see every year something bad happens 2-3 days prior or on the 16th {my bday}. EVERY YEAR. This is the reason birthdays are no fun to me. I will gladly celebrate my birthday a few days AFTER the actual date. And you may think it’s a coincidence, right? Well I have 19 years worth of records to prove it. I won’t bore you with my tragedy statistics, but I’ll give you an example:

The day before my 17th birthday, Grandpa Coy had a heart attack. He was admitted into Dayton Heart…we went to visit him on the way to have my birthday dinner but because I was sick, I wasn’t able to come past the doorway to see him. On the way home from the restaurant my Gram called dad’s cell to tell him that the surgery Grandpa had while we were eating dinner had failed and he was on life support.

Happy Birthday Morgan.

One more thing, I had my first little ‘accident’ since I had been driving for a year during that time. Go figure.

And as it goes, my mom thinks I am just negative about my birthday. She says I need to quit saying bad things always happen near my birthday.

Who has a kidney stone?

To quote my dad, who was quoting my mom…on the way to the ER thru all that pain she kept saying, “Oh no! Tomorrow’s Morgan’s birthday!'” :D

I think she’s a believer. But she made sure that I knew that it has nothing to do with me being born.

Oh okay. I’ll agree with that. Our family must just have issues with the 13-16 of March.

Right?

But the 13th of this year was ahhh-MAZING! Casting Crowns was awesome!!! I’ve got many pictures {as usual} but this will have to tie you over ‘till then. :D

BTW…Tomorrow is my FAVORITE DAYE OF THE YEAR {next to Easter}…do you know why? *grin*

to see Casting Crowns live in concert!!! :D 3rd row seats with two of my greatest friends AND it’s only 20 minutes away!!!! And you may think , “O well I’m going to Winter Jam in IN tonight…” which is all good for you but this is CASTING CROWNS for goodness sakes. And the fact that I’ve only went to ONE real concert in my entire almost 19 years of age {I was 9 when we went} is definitely cause for WET YOURSELF EXCITEMENT!!!! :D {fyi—i’m dry: just making a point!} And I’m bringing my Canon40D and hopefully something to record a little bit…and all 3 of our CD’s with hopes of getting one autographed! AAAHHHHHH!!!!! 2 hrs. 39 minutes to GO!

HS: "Because for decades conveyer belt education has been dumbing up the majority of America, instilling consumerist ideoligies and supporting social atrocities which wouldn't occur as often if parents/gaurdians themselves were able to educate their children in social aptitude to avoid scarring abuses in adulthood but also in childhood at the hands of thoughtless children and somteimes spiteful teachers who are forced to cooperate with the system that lets everyone off easy because it's not about education, it's about succesfully producing more carbon copy self-centrists of every selfish American since the modern public school system was created which has created the Me Century and just about killed the grounds upon which our Constitution was founded upon so it's a powerless document which means that there is no law but one's morals and who has those anymore? Popular opinion has overruled the concept of self-control, which is the only real basis of helping others as we must limit ourselves to do so, so when that foundation is shattered what is there to do but act only for ourselves, while hurting others by what we do or don't do which will spread like a web until the whole world is netted and all problems in the world which would have been prevented will blow up in our collective face in the form of global war, poverty, genocide...stuff like that, unless we have a rock upon which to build the requirements to lead the earth into harmonious existence, starting with social reform within and without our nation's schools."

Of Purses and Hair

There’s a challenge I’ve seen on a number of blogs where you take a photo of your purse and then photograph the contents just as you find them when you dump them out. SO I thought maybe we could find something about me that I didn’t know about myself {like psychoanalyzing the contents to learn about my personality??} Well I don’t think that works because my purse is VERY organized {I even carry dental floss} but I am a very disorganized person in real life. If you decide to do this, leave a comment so I know to check it out. This lovely little silver compact was a graduation gift from a girl I met at a Bible study. She had it engraved “Congratulations Morgan!” and I didn’t even see that for 3 weeks. :D And now for the Hair. I’m a really picky hair person and, usually, whenever anyone sees me, my hair looks super nice. People like to touch it and ask me how I do it: It never ends. Well I thought I’d show you what my ‘crazy cat-woman’ hair looks like after I get it cut. This is why I don’t go anywhere right after it’s done. :) And I also left the photos un-photoshopped. They are straight out of the camera for your pure enjoyment. But I couldn’t resist CS4 and put 2 at the end.

Anyone else have freak hair like mine?

PLEASE SAY YES.

I like knowing that perfect-looking people really AREN’T perfect. And I like it even better when they blog about it or post pictures of themselves without makeup. I’m just saying… :)

Sew What.

With the western Ohio valley temperatures on their way to the 60’s this week, I am feeling an extreme need for SPRING. And I really don’t ever remember wanting it to come so fast. I’ve always liked the different seasons Ohio brings, and can’t imagine what kind of poor, sufferable people live in states with only 1 or 2. {for real.}

And I know people think sewing is really dorky and handmaiden-y…but it’s really cool when you can make whatever you want with fantastic modern fabrics. And it’s even better when you know you aren’t going to match the other 20+ girls you know. {Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing, because I’m one of those girls too!} Spring really makes me want to sew skirts and shorts and dresses…ahhhh! A WHOLE NEW WARDROBE FOR CHURCH! Here are some patterns I’ve stumbled across…there is also a really amazing site called Sew Mama Sew! that has tons of designer fabrics along with many different patterns. If you click the picture, it will go directly to the source. :)

I think this could be absolutely amazing if the dress was without the goofy white slip underneath, but yet the same length and of course some UPDATED FABRIC.

A girl from church has this same skirt but instead of leaving the connecting edges in a fraying pattern, it’s sewn and raised.

I LOVE wide hems on everything! Especially jeans and skirts. Once again, this skirt needs some way different fabric. Blech.

I like this fabric {and skirt} but I think it’s too gathered. Cut out some of the ruffle and I’d be a happy camper.

These are {i think} called “Smarty Pants.” They look store bought to me, and they are super simple to make. No zippers. But you add belt loops to give the appearance {i mean, the belt loops ARE functional} and the pockets are great add-ons as well. Although I’m not really in the market for any more bermudas…I struck gold at AE this fall and came away with 2 denim pairs for $25.

I need a new spring bag and Amy has me covered.

I’ve been collecting different things for over a year {I’ve got some photos of my collection…especially my huge metal glittered ‘M’ from McMaster&Storm} and I’m really ready to make the duvet cover, bed skirt, pillows, shams: ALL the trimmings. I’m stuck on the Nigella quilt. The hourglass shapes really caught my eye. Two problems: I’ve never quilted {only my sister has} and I didn’t realize how complicated piecing the parts in between the hourglass shapes will be. If you click the pattern you’ll see what I mean. So I’m thinking more along the lines of the “August Fields” duvet cover. Squares I can do. :)
