Camp Notes

Well, tomorrow marks the last day of Ludlow Falls Missionary Church camp 2008. I wish you could be there during the services. The guy that leads worship is from Wisconson. He is amazing! Last night's sermon was awesome...it was done by a guy named DeSelm [I think]. I'll have to check and find out for sure so that I can put the link on here. Anyway, I thought you might like to see the notes I took last night. I try to keep them in order when I write them, but when he's going so fast it's a little hard to not jumble everything up. He started the sermon out by asking us to turn to the book of Elijah. What? Never heard of that book in the Bible? Yeah, well about half of the congregation went to turn there when he said "gotcha!" Okay, I admit that I wrote it down in my notebook but then I thought, "wait. what's the abbreviation for this? Eli. ?" =D So here they are:

"How Do You Produce A Moses?"
Heb. 11:24-27
24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. 25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time. 26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. 27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king's anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.
1. Refused to be known as the son of Pharoah's daughter.
2. Looked ahead for his reward.
Three areas Moses makes a decision...
+Regarding his identity (v. 24)
+Chose to be mistreated (v. 25)
+Suffered for the sake of Christ (v. 26)
side note: Egyptian: new Pharoah comes through female lineage but Pharoah's daughter was barren. Chose to raise Moses to become the reigning king.
How did Moses make these decisions?
What did it take?
+Moses made refusals, by faith, regarding his identity. (v.24)
+We CHOOSE to be moral.
+Moses was looking ahead.
The ability to say 'no' to something now in order to say 'yes' later on. [regarding sexual purity]
There WILL BE A COST.
+Moses experienced suffering.
+ (v.27) Moses experienced uncertainty.
How Do You Raise A Child Like Moses?
-What was the secret for Moses' ability to make these decisions?-
+ He persevered.
How?
+Because he saw it with eyes of faith.
"he saw Him who is invisible."
